It was the last week of the spring semester of her freshman year at UC Sunnydale. Months had passed since Oz had left her to go "find himself". She'd denied, grieved and then accepted. She thought she'd been lucky enough to skip the anger stage all together. And then exactly six months to the day after Oz had disappeared, the phone calls began, at least one a day. They'd hang up instantly if they got Buffy. With her, they'd linger for a bit, not saying a word and then they'd hang up.
Before long, Willow was convinced that the wayward werewolf was her mysterious caller. That's when the anger came. She had just started to get on with her life again. She'd even gone on a few dates. Nothing special, just some nice guys and an evening out every once in awhile. And now, here he was trying to snap her back to his side when he still wasn't even there. Now she understood how Buffy had felt when she found out Angel had been in town in November for days and never told her, watching her from afar.
Willow unplugged the phone from the wall and lay back on her bed. That was not going to happen to her. She had cast a spell to let her feel whenever the caller was within 100 feet, and the closer he got, the more she would feel it. There was going to be none of that mysterious lurking stranger around for her. If Oz was going to play games, she felt she had the right to level the playing field.
She closed her eyes, frustrated at the situation and angry that her first real love affair was destined to end in bitterness instead of the sweet memories it should have been. Willow sighed. Until she could put an end to it, it would have to be business as usual. That meant Giles' place in the morning for a little spellcraft tutorial.
Giles would want to know about her casting. She wasn't exactly sure how thrilled he'd be about it. She wasn't even sure how to tell him. She sighed again and pulled the covers up over her head.
* * * * *Willow approached Giles' door and nearly wound up knocking on his chest as he opened it and started walking out. Both jumped back from each other a bit in surprise. They exchanged shy smiles. "Willow, you're early."
"I know. Sorry. I woke up way early. Too much on my mind I guess. Couldn't go back to sleep." She eyed his ensemble, black sweatpants, white tank top, black hooded zip-up sweatshirt on the top. She smiled in approval.
Giles placed a comforting arm around her shoulders. "Anything you want to talk about?"
She shrugged. "Not just yet. You were going for a run?"
He nodded. "Was just on my way to the park for my morning laps. Would you like to come?"
Willow tugged on the skirt of the short gauzy green summer dress she wore. "I'm not exactly dressed for it."
"Well that's all right. There's a blanket in the boot of my car. You can sit on that while I have my run and then we can do your lesson there. A little nature magick?"
She nodded and smiled. "I think I could use a field trip actually." They made their way to his car and drove to Weatherly Park.
* * * * *Willow spread the blanket under a large tree and watched as Giles started his circuit around the park. As she lay back, looking at the sunlight filtering through the trees, she found herself wishing she'd packed some sort of picnic for them, something to use as a distraction. "Would you like a sandwich Giles? Oh, and I'm practicing spells about Oz without your supervision again. Lemonade? Don't worry, I'm *pretty* sure you won't be blinded this time. Sugar?"
She folded her arms behind her. 'Maybe I can at least get my lesson in before I come clean. Cause after I do, it may be my last lesson for awhile.' Suddenly, she sat bolt upright, scanning the surrounding bushes. It was so early that the park was completely deserted, and the area she was in had dense foliage. But she *knew* someone was out there watching her.
She was momentarily distracted by the sound of Giles' heavy breathing as he jogged over to the blanket. His skin was gleaming with sweat, his hair damp from it. His tee shirt clung to his chest, hugging every contour. Willow's mind couldn't help but lead her to thinking of more enjoyable activities that might leave him in a similar condition. She blushed and lowered her head for a moment. The tug on her psyche returned to her full force then and she found herself looking over to the bushes again.
Giles was now kneeling on the blanket next to her, wiping his hairline and the back of his neck with a towel. Willow turned to him once more. He looked so sexy, and Oz knew she'd had a big crush on Giles in high school. Maybe he needed to see that she was over him so that he would leave her alone. Before she had time to talk herself out of it, she grabbed the ends of the towel that hung around Giles' neck and pulled him to her in a deep kiss.
When she released him, she looked to the bushes, trying to detect any movement. She was too distracted to notice the enraptured look on Giles' face. Giles was far too enraptured to notice her distraction. With a giddy smile on his face, he enfolded her in his arms, claiming her mouth with his own and bringing her down on the blanket.
Willow didn't have time to think about the fact that half a second ago she was on her knees looking for Oz and now she was on her back looking up at the sky. All she knew was that she was being kissed by Giles, expertly. And it was making her feel the way only sex with Oz had before. If he could make her feel that way from a simple kiss, she gulped wondering about what sex with Giles would be like. When he moved his mouth to her neck and his hand over her breast, she had the distinct feeling she was about to wonder no longer.
Giles ran his tongue up the side of her neck, coming to nibble on her earlobe. Excitement fluttered throughout Willow's body like a million butterfly wings. When he leisurely rubbed his thigh against her pelvis, she moaned loudly and began to tug on his sweatshirt. He laughed against her neck and pushed away for a moment. He sat back on his knees and pulled the sweatshirt and tee shirt over his head at the same time. Perspiration glistened in the hair on his chest. He was absolutely the hottest sight Willow had ever seen and she shivered at the thought of what was to come.
He placed his hand on her knee and slid it slowly up her leg and under her dress. When he drew his hand back, he took her underwear with it. He slid the silk the rest of the way down her equally soft legs and tossed it atop his discarded clothes. He lay down to the side of her, moving his hand slowly up her arm. When he reached her shoulder, he untied the strap there. He moved his fingers lightly over the top of her still-covered breasts to untie the other strap.
Willow expected him to peel the material away from her chest, but instead he trailed his hand down her trembling body, bringing it to her thigh and encouraging her to part her legs for him. She did so instantly and he moved between them. When he was over her, only then did he expose her breasts to his eager gaze and equally eager mouth. She felt as though she were shaking to come apart. She wrapped her legs around his, moving her heel deliberately slow against the back of his thigh, hoping to move him on. She moved her fingers into his hair, bringing his head up to look into her eyes. The way he smiled at her sent a new ripple of anticipation cascading through her.
He lifted his hips just enough push his sweatpants down mid-thigh and pull the hem of her dress up to her abdomen. His hand found her wetter than he could possibly have imagined. As he entered her, she gasped and wrapped her legs more tightly around his own. Now it was Giles' turn to shiver. The sensation of being inside her was nearly overwhelming to him. He began a slow rhythm, waiting for Willow to catch up with him before he increased his pace. It was this way that they chased each other over the edge, falling to Earth again in each other's arms, waiting for the fever to pass.
Giles clutched Willow against his chest, dusting her brow with kisses as his breathing slowly returned to normal. "Oh God Willow. You don't know how long I've wanted…You don't know how many times I've tried to call you just to ask you to coffee or the movies and then lost my nerve and hung up after hearing your voice."
Willow's eyes grew wide. 'I thought that was Oz! I…Oh no! Oz!' She'd forgotten all about Oz the minute Giles took her to the ground. No matter how mad she'd been at him, she didn't want him to have seen them doing….'Oh Goddess!' She looked over to the bushes and saw a rustling. Then something emerged; a large, sleek gray cat. Willow nuzzled against Giles' chest, laughing.
"What's so funny?"
She smiled at him. "Me. You . Us. Why did it take us so long?"
He gently touched her cheek. "I can't think of a reason in the world Love."
"Kiss me?" He smiled and did as he was asked.
* * * * *Oz released the branch he had moved aside to watch the couple on the blanket. He wiped his tears on his sleeve and walked away.
