Willow watched as Giles carried Buffy out of the Bronze. Buffy didn't look well at all, but Giles kept insisting that she was fine. Willow wasn't so sure.
"It's just a small bite," Giles said once they were in the alley.
"Shouldn't we take her to the hospital?" Xander asked.
"Yeah," Willow agreed. "The hospital. That's where we should go."
"Last time we were there they asked a lot of questions," Oz said, laying a hand on Willow's arm. "Giles knows what he's doing."
"She'll be safe with me," Giles said as they walked toward his car. "I'll take her home with me. I want the three of you to go to the dorm and gather her things."
Willow thought that was strange but didn't question Giles.
"How long . . ." Xander swallowed. "How long 'til she's better?"
"A few days," Giles answered quietly.
Willow barely noticed as Oz left to get his van and Xander opened Giles' car door. All she could could see was Buffy. "She looks dead," she whispered. "Are you sure . . . ?"
"She'll be fine, Will." Xander put his arm around her shoulder as Giles drove away. "She's Buffy."
**********
Xander was right. After a few days of rest at Giles' place, Buffy was back to normal. She insisted on staying with Giles, though. She said it was better there without the distractions of the dorm.
"But we'd just become roommates," Willow muttered as she knocked on Giles' door.
Buffy answered the door. "Hey, Will. Miss me already?"
"You know I do, but Giles asked me to stop by to help with research." She held up her laptop.
"Cool. We need all the help we can get." Buffy started to close the door behind Willow when Giles called out to her.
"It's almost dark, Buffy. You should patrol." He stared into her eyes. "And take care of that problem we discussed earlier."
"All over it, Giles." She bounced out the door and let it shut behind her.
"Giles?" Willow asked.
"Hmmm?"
"Is Buffy going to go back to school? She's missed a lot of classes. Her teachers are worried." Willow set her computer down on the table. "I tried to ask her when she called me yesterday, but she won't give me an answer."
"I think her Slayer training is more important right now than frivolous college courses."
"Uh. Okay." She sat at the table and opened her laptop. "What are we researching tonight?"
"I need you to get me maps of Sunnydale underground. Sewers, caves, everything."
Willow glanced at Giles over her shoulder. "What am I looking for?"
"I'm not sure yet, but the demons and vampires have been actively searching for something."
"You want to know where Buffy can ambush them?" Willow smiled.
"Something like that."
**********
"There all done." She closed the laptop. "I'll leave it here until Buffy can get them printed."
"Thank you, Willow."
She waved her hand. "It was nothing. I could have done that in my sleep." She stood. "I guess I should go."
"It's after dark," Giles said. "Wait for Buffy to walk you home. Or I could drive you."
"I'll wait for Buffy I guess." Willow sat back down. "It's just that I'm used to Oz being here with me to walk me home."
"He's been busy lately. Doing things without you." They weren't really questions.
"He's always with the band," Willow whispered. "I barely see him anymore."
Giles laid a hand on her shoulder. "You deserve better than him." He brushed hair away from her neck and whispered in her ear. "You are much more mature than Oz. You'd do better with someone older, someone who understand you, someone who appreciates you."
Willow gasped when she felt his lips brush her ear. "But Oz . . ."
"Isn't worthy." He brushed the back of his hand along her neck. "I know how you've wanted me, Willow. You've just been afraid to ask."
Willow stood suddenly and faced him. "I-I don't know what you're talking about. I love Oz."
Giles backed her against the table. "I never said you didn't."
"How do you know what I want anyway?"
"I can see it in your eyes."
Willow tried to look anywhere but where she wanted. When she failed, she saw him smile.
"Just tell me what you want."
Willow wanted to tear her eyes away from his face, away from his mouth, but she couldn't. Every word he spoke drew her in. Somewhere in the back of her mind a voice whispered that this wasn't right. It tried to tell her she should leave. But this was just Giles. He wouldn't hurt her.
"I want you to kiss me." She gasped when she heard the words pour from her lips. "I didn't mean. I really don't -" It was too late to take the words back.
In an instant, Giles lips were pressed against hers. She couldn't help but respond. It felt too good. Oz had never kissed her like that. "Giles," she whispered as he trailed kisses down her chin to her neck.
"Yes, Willow," he murmured.
"I want you to. . ." She moaned when he licked her shoulder and neck.
"To what?" he asked softly.
"Make love to me," she said quickly, not sure why she was suddenly so bold.
In one swift movement, she was lifted off her feet and carried to the couch. As he laid her down, he pulled her skirt up. She thought she should be nervous, but this was Giles. She knew he wouldn't hurt her. "Soon, please," she moaned. "I need you."
With a smile, Giles leaned over her and kissed her again. Willow was lost. She reached up and ran a hand through his hair as he trailed kisses across her cheek to her ear. Before she knew it, he was licking and sucking her neck. "Oh god, Giles. I've never felt like this before. It's like magic."
"Magic," he whispered. "That comes later."
She faintly heard the sound of his zipper before he pushed her panties aside and thrust inside her. She gasped at the sensation. He was so different from Oz. His size and shape were different, but his technique was better. She clutched at him as he thrust hard and fast. As she neared her climax, panic gripped her when she heard the front door open.
"Giles, I'm back," Buffy shouted. "The problem is taken care of. I almost got bit, and he tried to scratch me too. But it's done."
Willow was horrified that Giles just kept pounding into her as Buffy talked. She was too close though. Even as Buffy peered over the couch at them, Willow tumbled over the edge, her climax hitting her hard. A new terror gripped her as she felt fangs sink into her neck.
Buffy smiled down at her. "Don't worry, Will. It only hurts for a moment."
