On with the fic (such as it is)
Willow carefully handed Giles his tea and made herself comfortable on the sofa beside him. Giles thanked her and noticed her brows were knitted together in thought as she looked in the direction of the window.
"Willow, is something troubling you? You look to be deep in thought."
"Hmmm? Oh, no. Sorry Giles. It looks like the weatherman is right. Hey, what are the odds on that happening, eh?"
"Well, this is the Hellmouth after all." Replied the librarian with a bemused smile on his face. `She can find anything to ponder' he thought.
"I was kinda hoping to barbeque up some steak and burgers for dinner tonight." She said with a disappointed smile. The conversation was interrupted as Spike burst through the door and plunked himself on the sofa between Willow and Giles, causing Giles to spill his tea on himself.
"Bloody hell, Spike!"
"Sorry `bout that, mate." Spike replied as he reached for the remote.
"Spike, why are you here? You have your own television." Giles said sternly as he used a napkin to soak up as much tea from his clothing as possible.
"S'on the fritz so I'm here to borrow this one." He clicked the remote and sat back with a smile. "Just in time. The whelp owe's me two bags o' blood! Heh heh." He finished as the two looked at the television to see a little yellow creature perched on top of a young boy's shoulders.
"What on earth is this show?" Willow questioned.
"You don't know what this is? I thought you were the brains of the Scooby outfit." A condescending tone in Spike's voice caused Willow to flinch a little.
"Damn!" came Xander's voice from the doorway. "Pokemon's already started."
"Yup, and you owe me whelp." Spike laughed as Xander stalked towards the group and plopped himself into the armchair.
"Xander, did you remember to take your Ritalin?" Giles asked, giving him a sidelong glance.
"Of course I remembered." He replied defensively, even though his face began turning a slight shade of red, indicating to the others that he had, indeed forgotten to take it.
Giles rolled his eyes and stood up, taking Willow by the hand and leading her out of the living room. "How about I make you a sandwich? I can even whip up some soup to go with it."
"That's sounds pretty yummy. I'll give you a hand."
"No need love. I can manage around the kitchen." He said with a smile and set about the task of making the two some dinner. Giles opened the cupboard and found a rectangular box with no writing or label to say what it was. He looked to Willow showing her the box, whose only response was to shrug.
Carefully Giles opened the box and looked in, eyes going wide as he dropped the box to the floor. "Good Lord!!!"
Willow immediately jumped to her feet and ran to pick up the box, all the while Giles just stood there stuttering. The young woman reached in and pulled out the long cylindrical object and held it up.
"I guess it `has' been a while since Buffy's had a steady boyfriend." Said the red head as she put the vibrator back into the box and set it in the cupboard where it was found.
"Hey, red." Shouted Spike from the living room. "While your out there, how `bout making me some hot chocolate?" pause "With those little marshmallows."
Giles grabbed Willow's hand and led her outside, away from the mad house, to sit on the porch swing. Both seated themselves and sighed, delighting in the quiet that was all too infrequent of a commodity.
"Look, it's only a crescent moon tonight, and the clouds are starting to roll in. Storm isn't too far away." A clap of thunder sounded right after Willow's statement.
"Hey, Will? Where are you?"
"I'm out here, Xander. What is it?"
"Ummm. I realize that this isn't my house, but…"
"Well, spit it out, Xander." Giles cut in.
"Its just that, well I'm over here quite a bit. Well, I was wondering, could you take your panties and stockings out of the bathroom? They're kinda distracting hanging there on the shower rod." Xander finished with a blush, causing Willow to do the same. She had forgotten about them hanging in the bathroom.
"Sure Xan." Willow replied and went into the house. Xander followed her in, but headed to the living room.
"I'll wait till your done." He said as he sat in the chair once more, and Willow disappeared up the stairs.
Spike looked to Xander, and gave him a sly smile as he held up a cock ring. "How `bout tonight I teach you some things to do with banana's and whip cream."
"Not tonight, Spike. I've got a headache." Was the young man's reply.
"What do you mean, `headache'? Listen, mate. You'd be amazed at how convincing I could be with ice cream and a cucumber."
"I told you, I've got a headache." Replied Xander as he held up his butt plug.
"Eeeeeew!" said Willow seeing what Xander had in his hand, causing the boy to shove it quickly into his pocket. "Uh, the, uh… b- bathroom is all c-clear. Igottago!" She said quickly and ran from the room to rejoin Giles in the back porch. "This is a mad house! A mad hooooooouuuuuuusssssse!"
"Oh, I know this one. `Planet of the Apes'. Excellent movie… bad costumes though."
"Giles, get me the hell out of here!"
"What is the matter?"
"Giles, I was really hoping for a nice quiet night in while Buffy is out with GP. And now… Xander's here showing the world his butt plug, and Spike is here watching some children's show and wanting hot chocolate." Giles could clearly see how upset Willow had gotten. " Buffy's out for the entire night, and the SIT's are bonding in the woods and doing some practice slayer stuff… I finally get the house to myself only to have it invaded."
"C'mon, luv. We're leaving."
"Where are we going?" she questioned.
"To my car. The rest is a surprise." He said and smiled at the young woman who wore a look of total relief on her face.
They walked into the kitchen and headed towards the living room to the front door, only to hear part of the conversation going on… wishing they hadn't heard a word.
"Ya know, mate… I always thought Clark Kent and that Lex chap would make a good couple."
"No way! Those two? I'd rather pull leaches from my body than see that relationship happen!" replied Xander, horrified.
"I have something for you to look at… might get you in the mood." Spike sing-songed, as he reached into his pocket and handed something to Xander. The young man unfolded the paper and his eyes widened.
"Yeah, in the mood for `him' sure!" Xander said, practically drooling over the poster of a naked man. "Wow, he's hot!"
Giles grabbed Willow's arm as he heard a sob escape her lips, and rushed her out the front door where they could see his new Buick parked in the street. Ever the gentleman, Giles opened the door and ushered her in, then closed the door and went to the driver's side and got in. He started the car, put it in gear, then practically squealed the tires in an attempted to get far away from the house and everyone in it.
They sat in silence for a time, Willow enjoying the scenery and quiet. A while later Giles stopped the car and got out. Willow followed his lead and exited the car and waited to see what they were going to do.
They strolled along for some time before Giles stopped and led her to the footbridge that had police tape blocking the entrance.
"Giles, what are we doing here? There's police tape blocking the bridge, we're not allowed to cross it."
"Do you trust me?" he asked.
"Of course I do."
"Then that's all I ask." He said as he took off his silk tie, and gently wrapped it around her head, covering her eyes. "I hope you don't mind, I want it to be a surprise." He ripped the tape off and led her to the middle of the bridge. He stopped, and a moment later Willow could hear the sound of a match being struck.
"I had planned this all day," he said as he removed the tie. "Even talked Spike and Xander into helping me."
Willow opened her eyes and saw a very small table and two chairs. Upon the table were two white candles (which explains the match), and between them stood a small vase with a single white rose. There were plates and cutlery on the table as well, but on one of the plates sat a small box, causing the young woman to give Giles a curious look.
Giles pulled out a chair, indicating that he wanted her to sit, which she did, and watched as he did the same in the chair opposite her.
"Please, open it." He gestured to the box in front of her.
Willow slowly picked it up and opened it, her eyes opening as wide as saucers as they came to rest on the most beautiful ring she'd ever seen.
"My dearest Willow, I implore you… Will you consider becoming my wife?" he asked nervously.
The red head looked up to the ex-watcher with tears in her eyes, blurring her vision.
"I thought you'd never ask!" she choked out as he got up, made his way to her and knelt down on one knee.
"I love you," he said taking the ring, "with all my heart. And I vow from this day forward," slipping the ring onto her finger, "that I will always cherish and protect you. You, Willow, have become my reason for living. Without you, my life has no meaning and no purpose. For so many years my life has been empty, but your smile and laughter has filled me with a joy."
"Rupert! Y-you really know how (sob) to make a girl speechless." She said as she leaned in close to him and let their lips touch in a soft sweet kiss. When they parted, they gazed into each other's eyes wishing this moment would last forever. As if on cue, a loud crack of thunder sounded, followed by raindrops, which quickly escalated into a downpour.
"Until you told me about what the weather man said, I didn't think to find out about it today. I'm sorry, luv?" he said sadly, until he saw the amused smile on Willow's face.
"Are you kidding? This has been the best night of my life!"
Later
Spike and Xander stared at a very drenched Willow and Giles standing in the doorway, both of them wearing a silly grin on their face.
"So," Spike began, "you have a nice time, ducks?"
Spike watched as Willow made her way to the blonde vampire and envelope him in a huge hug.
"Hey, red! Just `cause I'm already dead, doesn't mean you can squeeze the afterlife outa me! Oh bugger! Now look what you did! I'm all wet!" he said as he tried pushing her away.
She let go and went to Xander, giving him a hug as Giles grabbed the blanket that was on the back of the sofa and draped it over Willow's shoulders. She pulled back and saw the brunette with his goofy grin and a twinkle in his eyes.
"Go on, Will's. Go change before you catch a cold." The young man said to her. She let him go as Giles led her out of the room, leaving the two men alone once more.
"Xan, I picked up this movie at the rental store. It's about a woman who loves whips and…"
"Nah, reminds me to much of Fred an Angel."
"Yeah, that bloody poof!"
Xander felt something rub against his leg and looked down. "Hey there, miss kitty." He said as he scratched her behind the ears.
"Yay, a cat… just what I always wanted." Spike said, sarcasm dripping from his voice. Just then a knock sounded at the door and Spike went to answer it.
"Hi, my car broke down and I was wondering if I could borrow your phone?"
Spike looked at the drenched woman wearing a white t-shirt, and very obviously no bra. A sexy smile played across Spike's lips as he invited the beauty in, and showed her to the phone.
"This way, pet." Spike drawled.
"Oh, your British. I love the accent! Oh sorry, my manners. My name is cat."
"Cat? Well, what a coincidence. I was just telling my friend over there how much I love cats."
End.
