Willow shifted gears and drove with extreme caution...

She was excited...And a little nervous...

Willow decided that it was time for her to get a driver license..One good point of having a driver's license was that it was a great I.D. card.....And with a driver license, she needed a spanking new, well, used car...

She had gotten a driver license about two months ago..She told no one about it. Well, none of her friends, anyway.

In one of her visit's with her Mom, she told her that she was ready...Ready to hit the road...Hit the road with wheels, of course...And Willow knew she was ready to get behind the wheel...

Willow's Mom was behind her...Well, her mother gave her money for it...Willow secretly thought it was guilt money for not being around much....

Willow wanted to surprise her friends...To see the looks upon their faces...

It had been so hard keeping this secret from them...And now the secret was about to be reveled...

The first person to know her secret was going to be Giles.

A soft smile crossed Willow's face...

Earlier that evening she had called Giles and asked him what his plans were for the day. Since he decided to give himself, a much needed, day off. After working like a mad man in his magic shop for the last two weeks...

He told her his plans were to stay home..And enjoy the sound of silence..Well, for just a little while..Before the gang decided to show up.

Willow felt extra proud of herself for she had gotten an invite to dinner over at his place...He said something about a recipe he was hoping to try...Chicken...Chicken...Ummm....Okay, she couldn't remember the name of the recipe, but she knew it had chicken in it...

Willow's smile got a little bigger and a twinkle entered her green eyes...

When she had asked if he would like some company...And maybe, this company would bring over some salad...

There had been a long silence, before Giles said...

"I-If, um, this company happens to be a redhead that I know. Then I would love some."

So now Willow was going to surprise Giles with more then the salad, tonight. Okay, yes, he knew about the salad. So the salad wasn't going to be a surprise. Unless, you counted the bacon bits she poured into it.

The bright yellow car sure had character...It had over 80,000 miles on it...Had a couple of small dints...But Willow loved it...

She turned onto Giles' street and she got even more excited. Just thinking about what he'd say...Willow stepped on the gas...

She pulled up behind Giles' car...Hitting the brakes...

The petal held for a split second before it plunged straight to the floor.

"AHHH!!!! NO!!!"

The brakes didn't slow her down at all, but Giles' new car did...

Willow felt her body fly forward. The seat belt jerked her back, but not before her forehead hit the steering wheel.

Metal against metal...The sound seemed to echo in her ears...Willow was sure her heart had stopped beating...

Willow was shaking badly and breathing hard...

This was *not* the kind of surprise she wanted to give to Giles. Willow felt so guilty...For her car just mated with Giles' new pride and joy....

She slowly got out of her car.

"GOOD LORD!!!"

Willow turned and looked at the person who spoke...She had known who it was even before she turned around...

"Hi, Giles....I've got a surprise for you...Um, I'm *so*...so sorry..The brakes are bad..." Willow said weakly.

Giles had been on his patio, enjoying his tea, when he heard the loud crash...

He was sure his heart had stopped when he saw who had stepped out of the bright yellow car. Giles was now completely speechless...He looked like he was trying to form words...Finally, his voice came back to him...

"W-Willow are you alright?"

"Yeah, I think so..."

"Are you sure?" Giles came up to Willow...

Willow nodded and she had to wince at the pain that exploded inside her head.

"You are right, Willow, this is a surprise...By the way, whose car does this want-a-be taxi belong too."

"It is not a want-a-be taxi...It's *my* new car...Well, it's sort of new, really it's a used car...But the car is new to me...And I am so sorry about my car having a love affair with your new car. I am really sorry." Willow replied lightheaded.

"I am not concerned about that right now! Where you wearing a seat belt, Willow?"

"Of course, I was..."

"Willow, you are bleeding!"

"What?" Willow brought her hand up against her sore lip. "I must have bit it..At least my forehead isn't bleeding."

Giles brought his hand up and caressed her face....

Willow leaned into his touch...His touch felt so good...So wonderful...

Giles moved his hand away from her face...Willow gave a sad sigh, for she didn't want Giles to ever stop touching her.

Giles looked at the two cars that were now joined..

"Tell me, what idiot sold you this awful heap of junk?"

"Heap of junk!?!? Did you just call my beautiful car a heap of junk? You know, you calling my car a heap of junk, is not saying much for my judgement!" Willow said offended.

"Willow...I think your judgment speaks for itself." Giles replied sarcastically, nodding at the two locked cars. Giles' jaw tightened, his green eyes hardened and anger filled his voice....

"Now, tell me, who was the complete moron who sold you this car? He needs to be behind bars...Or get beat'in up..."

"Behind bars? Beat'in up? Giles, are you crazy?"

"You could have been killed driving this car..." He said hoarsely. As if the thought was the worst thought to ever cross his mind...He continued...

"What if you had been near a ravine or something?"

"Oh, yes, Giles, there are so many mountain passes between my place and yours. You know how many mountains there are here in Sunnydale California!" Willow replied sarcastically...

"We are going to take this *thing* back." Giles said with a glare.

"This thing?"

"The car, of course. We will be getting X-rays on the way."

Willow's jaw dropped. "X-rays of the car?"

"No...Of your head...That bruise on your forehead does not look good."

"Are you telling me that I need my head examined?"

"Precisely, you could have a fractured skull or something...Though, looking at your car, I'd have to say you already had one before you bought it."

"That is not a very nice thing to say!"

"Sorry." Giles didn't look at all sorry. As a matter of fact, Giles gave Willow a small gentle smile. Willow found herself smiling right back.

A Little later...

Willow wasn't sure how she did it, but she had convinced Giles that she didn't need to go to the hospital. It might have been the fact that she told him that the next time *he* got hit on the head he was going no questions asked...

But Willow knew there was no way to stop Giles from confronting the salesman at the used car lot. The look in Giles' eyes said that Ripper just might show up and play...

Willow felt sorry for the young salesman. She gave the salesman a sad look. But her attention quickly left the salesman when she heard Giles tell the man...

"How dare you endanger the woman I love! You complete and total idiot! You sold her a car that shouldn't even be out on the road! She could have been killed!"

Willow looked at Giles in wonder...Did he really mean...LOVE? He said love!

"Giles! Rupert, if you think about it, your old car that you had, shouldn't have been out on the road either.."

Giles ignored what she said...

Giles' fist pounded on the yellow car's crumpled hood for emphasis...Making both Willow and the salesman jump. The young man turned pale under Giles' glare...

"Sir, we put new brakes on that car. It must be some sort of adjustment problem." The salesman said quickly.

"Pillock! You should have your head adjusted! The bloody car has absolutely no brakes, at all! The pedal hit the floor five times coming over here and I had to pull the emergency brake. I wonder what the Better Business Bureau will say about this..."

The salesman began to loosen his tie...

"Sir, that really won't be necessary."

Giles came toward the man angrily...

"Plus, this car has a major oil problems...Problems it had before it hit my car."

"Um, Sir, it's an older car. There is bound to be some minor oil leakage."

"Leakage? Looks like a great flood to me..."

The salesman looked stunned...And if Giles had been giving her those kind of looks, she would have crawled right under the car and stayed there...

She felt compelled to explain to the young man...

"I think he is mad because it was his brand new car that stopped my sort of new car."

"No, Willow, that is not why I am mad! You, sir, put someone's life in danger...Someone I lo-...Care greatly for...And you put other people in danger also. Would you sale a car to the woman you love?"

The salesman made an attempt to salvage the situation and to calm down this very angry British man...

"Sir, you do have a point...As a matter of fact, you have made your point. The young lady here can have her money back, no questions asked." The man looked around the used parking lot. "We just got in a new number this morning...Purrs like a kitten..It's a newer model and..."

The salesman was not sure what it was he had said but the next thing he knew the older man grabbed him and drew back his fist...

"RUPERT!"

The young man gave Willow a thankful look. For when she spoke. She also reached out and grabbed Giles' arm. Giles slowly let the young and trembling man go.

"Rupert, let's go home..."

Giles looked at Willow and placed a hand on Willow's back as they left the car lot. Willow was afraid Giles might turn around and go back to finish what he had started..

She wrapped an arm around Giles...

"Um, Gi...Um, Rupert, did you mean what you said?...That you loved me? Did you mean that you love me like a daughter?..Or a sister?...Friend?...Or, um, romantically?" Willow gave Giles a hopeful look when she said the last word.

Giles looked at Willow, love was written across his face.

"Yes, Willow, I-I love you. Trust me, the things I feel when you are around...I would not have for a daughter or a sister!"

"I love you too, Rupert...I just wish you told me first, instead of that used car salesman."

Willow leaned closer and wrapped her arm even tighter around Giles' waist...She then asked...

"So, um, do you want to go with me tomorrow to look for a new car?"

"Do you really need to ask?"

"You know, I have always wanted a hot pink car...Oh! Maybe I can find a magic spell that would change the color of my car...To any color..One day, it would be red. The next day, purple...Maybe even..."

Giles listened to the woman he loved go on excitingly about the many various possibilities...

Willow does and would always make life interesting for him..Giles started to smile at that thought...For that didn't sound very bad at all...
